Freetown, July 7, 2025 – CTC Mining SL Limited has donated 100 pieces of tarpaulin to the Ministry of Local Government and Community Affairs to support victims of a recent rainstorm that devastated several villages in Kailahun District. The donation ceremony took place at the Youyi Building in Freetown, where the Deputy Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs, Alfred Moi Jamiru, officially received the items on behalf of the affected communities. It could be recalled that on May 11, 2025, a severe rainstorm struck parts of Kailahun District, destroying the roofs of many homes and leaving dozens of families displaced. Following the incident, the Ministry reached out to several organizations, including CTC Mining SL Limited, seeking urgent humanitarian support for the victims. Presenting the donation, Dr. David Koroma, Project Coordinator for CTC Mining SL Limited, said the gesture forms part of the company’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aimed at supporting communities in need.

“We believe in standing with communities during difficult times. This donation is part of our commitment to assist those affected by natural disasters, not just in Kailahun but across the country whenever necessary,” Dr. Koroma stated. In his remarks, Deputy Minister Alfred Moi Jamiru expressed gratitude to the company for responding positively to the Ministry’s request. “We reached out to CTC Mining SL Limited immediately after the incident, and they pledged to support the affected communities. Today’s donation is a testament to their commitment. We are deeply thankful for this timely intervention, and we assure the public that the tarpaulins will be distributed to the victims without delay,” he said. The donation is expected to provide much-needed relief to households still struggling to recover from the storm’s impact and other communities.
