CHIEF MINISTER INSPECTS ONGOING GOV’T PROJECTS IN FALABA

Falaba District, Mongo Chiefdom, Mongo Bendugu Town, Saturday, 23 May 2026 – Chief Minister David Moinina Sengeh has undertaken an official visit to Falaba District to engage local authorities, inspect ongoing and stalled government projects, and strengthen collaboration aimed at accelerating development and improving service delivery across the district. During the engagement, the Chief Minister met with Paramount Chiefs, officials of the Falaba District Council, and other local stakeholders to gain firsthand insight into the progress and challenges surrounding key government interventions in the district.

Speaking during the visit, Dr. Sengeh emphasized that the purpose of the engagement was to better understand the realities on the ground and ensure that development initiatives are effectively implemented for the benefit of citizens. “I came here today to engage with the Chiefs and the District Council leadership. The Chairman has invited me many times, and I also came to understand the projects that are ongoing in the district. We have seen the solar project and the water project, and I have also been updated on the hospital and prison projects. We are here to see development in the district, and even while we are here, we are acting,” the Chief Minister stated. He further underscored the importance of responsive leadership and problem-solving, noting that government remains committed to working closely with local councils and traditional authorities to address challenges affecting communities. “I believe that when you visit communities and identify problems, action must be taken. We are working with the District Council and Paramount Chiefs to ensure that the challenges we see are resolved,” he added.

Chairman of the Falaba District Council, Ibrahim Sorie Sesay, stated that the Chief Minister’s visit was particularly significant as it provided an opportunity for government to assess stalled and ongoing projects within the district and obtain a clearer understanding of implementation gaps and development priorities. According to the Chairman, the visit demonstrates government’s continued commitment to monitoring public projects and ensuring that development interventions deliver meaningful impact for the people of Falaba District.

The inspection covered critical sectors including energy, water supply, healthcare, correctional infrastructure, and local governance — areas that remain central to the Government of Sierra Leone’s development agenda. The visit is also expected to contribute to the effective implementation of the Government’s “Big Five Game Changers,” particularly in advancing human capital development, improving infrastructure and public service delivery, expanding access to clean energy and water, and strengthening local governance systems. Residents and local authorities expressed optimism that the Chief Minister’s direct engagement and assessment of projects would accelerate action on stalled initiatives and enhance accountability in the delivery of development programmes across Falaba District.
