WANTED: C4C COUNCILLOR YAYAH KEMOH MANSARAY OF KONO STILL ON THE RUN OVER ALLEGED FORGERY

Councillor Yayah Kemoh Mansaray of the Coalition for Change (C4C) in Ward 085, Constituency 025, Mafindor Chiefdom, was declared wanted by the Sierra Leone Police on Wednesday, 15th June 2022, at the Tankoro Police Divisional Headquarters in Kono District over allegations of forgery.

Mansaray, who is still on the run, once served as Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee of the Kono District Council. He was first arrested and detained for one week on 1st June 2022 after allegations of forgery against him emerged on social media. He was later released on bail due to health complications and referred for legal proceedings.

Following the 7th March 2018 elections, Mansaray served as the first C4C spokesperson for councillors in Kono. He has been recognized for his contributions to development in Ward 085 and for his advocacy for accountability and transparency.

Tensions reportedly emerged during the Mafindor paramount chieftaincy election when Mansaray was accused of not supporting a candidate aligned with the ruling party. He later received a police invitation, reportedly delivered through the District Council Chairman.

C4C National Chairman Tamba Richard Sandy said the party is currently unable to intervene, citing a court injunction that bars the party’s legal team from representing or participating in party activities due to contempt of court orders.

Attempts to reach Councillor Mansaray for comment have been unsuccessful, owing to severe health challenges he reportedly suffered while in police custody.

According to the police, investigations are ongoing. The case remains open pending further findings and any subsequent legal action.
