PARLIAMENT APPROVES ISAAC KEN GREEN AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF SLPTA

The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Tuesday, 9 June 2026, unanimously approved Mr. Isaac Ken Green as Director General of the Sierra Leone Public Transport Authority (SLPTA), alongside other presidential appointees. During the parliamentary debate, Members from both the ruling party and opposition expressed confidence in Mr. Green's ability to transform the country's transport sector.

They called on him to strengthen public-private partnerships, improve road transport services, reduce road accidents, expand the public bus fleet, and introduce reforms to modernize the transportation system. Deputy Leader of Government Business, Hon. Emerson Saa Lamina, encouraged Mr. Green to apply the experience and knowledge he gained in the United Kingdom to improve Sierra Leone's transport infrastructure. Opposition Chief Whip, Hon. Abdul Karim Kamara, urged him to promote private sector participation and support local transport operators through access to financing.

In closing the debate, parliamentary leaders emphasised the need for Mr. Green and the other appointees to serve the nation with professionalism, diligence, and impartiality. Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas congratulated the approved nominees and wished them success in their new roles. Mr. Green brings extensive experience in transport management and administration. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone, and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) degree from the University of East London.

He currently serves as Acting Director General of the SLPTA, having previously served as General Manager of the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation and Local Operations Manager at Network Rail in the United Kingdom. Addressing Parliament during the interview process Mr. Green highlighted the Authority's ongoing digital transformation programme, noting that partnerships with the private sector will help improve fleet utilisation, reduce turnaround times, and enhance revenue collection across the transport sector.
