MANDINGO CHIEF DONOTES OVER 200 BAGS OF RICE TO SUBJECTS AHEAD OF EID AL- ADHA IN KONO

In a significant effort to provide food items and to foster camaraderie, the Mandingo ethnic in Kono district, the Kono district Mandingo Tribal Head, Chief Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah, has donated over two hundred bags of rice and assorted other food items to the less privileged, ahead of the Eid al-Adha festive. On Friday, 22^nd May 2026, the symbolic handover of the donation took place at the Supreme Islamic Primary School in Bumpeh Town, Nimikoro Chiefdom, Kono District, Eastern Region of Sierra Leone. Speaking to this medium in an exclusive interview, Chief Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah did say that the 300 bags of 25kg rice, 10 cartons of biscuits, 10 cartons of fruit juice drinks, and other food items were included.

He said that the donation is part of his annual activities ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival. “As a responsible leader, you should have the capability to scout out support to address the needs of your subjects” Chief Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah disclosed. He further explained that for the past years on the Eid al-Adha festival he has been slaughtering over 100 cows and shared among the poor and across all work of life in the district.  Embarking on community driving felt needs like the construction of a school, borehole water wells, hospital,, among others. Chief Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah disclosed that the said food items donation support came from his development partners in the diaspora and they are really supporting his developmental moves to aid his people. And as a tribal ethnic group, well known for its positive contributions and committed to the national development.

He called on the beneficiaries to utilise the items received for it intended purpose. Beneficiaries thanked Chief Sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah for his timely food donation, and they called other philanthropists to emulate the good work of Chief sheikh Mohamed Lamin Fofanah. They assured of proper utilization of the food items received for its intended purpose.
