HON PESSIMA SPONSORS DIVISION II LEAGUE IN KENEMA

The Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Sports, Board Chairperson of the Sierra Leone Female Premier League, President of Bai Bureh Warriors, and Ambassador for Female Football in the Northwest Region, Rt. Hon. Racheal Mariatu Sesay Pessima, has single-handedly sponsored the Kenema District Football Association (KDFA) Division II League.
Hon. Pessima officially performed the ceremonial kickoff to commence the league on Saturday, 23rd May 2026, at the Kenema City Field. Fourteen teams registered under the auspices of the KDFA are competing in the tournament. The winner of the league will qualify for promotion to Division I. Welcoming Hon. Pessima and her delegation, KDFA Chairman Mohamed Pateh Jabbie, commonly known as “Skillu,” expressed profound gratitude to the Member of Parliament from Port Loko for responding positively to the Association’s appeal for sponsorship.

He described the league as a promotional tournament and noted that Hon. Pessima remains a “blessed gem” in Sierra Leone’s football family, given her consistent and substantial financial investment in the game. The KDFA Chairman and Executive presented Certificate of Appreciation to Hon. Racheal Mariatu Sesay Pessima for her momentous support and sponsorship of the Division II League in Kenema.
In her remarks, Rt. Hon. Racheal Mariatu Sesay Pessima commended the KDFA Chairman and his executive for the structured organization of the league. She reaffirmed her unwavering support for the Association and assured them of her continued commitment to football development in the district. “I have no geographical limit when it comes to supporting football,” she stated, adding that she would always respond to requests from the KDFA in the interest of advancing the sport. She wished all participating teams’ success in the tournament and expressed optimism for a colorful and competitive final.
